Every Student Succeeds Act

On December 10, 2015 President Obama signed into law the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), which reauthorizes the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA). This latest update revises provisions in the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, and includes many reforms that return returns flexibility to the state while maintaining accountability for the success of all children.

NASP played a key role in ensuring that school psychologists are included in the legislation as "specialized instructional support personnel."  This chart highlights NASP's specific policy recommendations and what is included in the final law.
