“An Integrated Model for the Identification of Specific Learning Disabilities”
The Kansas Association of School Psychologists is pleased to bring Karen Apgar to Emporia for a one day workshop. The focus of the workshop will be an integrated approach to SLD identification, examining ways teams can utilize both MTSS and PSW models collaboratively in order to appropriately identify and support students with various learning needs.
Karen Apgar, MA/CAGS, NCSP has been a school psychologist in Oregon for the past 20 years. Ms. Apgar has served on the Executive Board of the Oregon School Psychologists Association (OSPA) in multiple positions and is currently the Oregon Delegate to the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). In her school district, she focuses on issues of learning disabilities, cultural and linguistic diversity, social justice, and crisis preparedness and response. She is a co-creator of her district's SLD identification process, which has been vetted by the U.S. Office of Civil Rights, and has presented the model to districts, universities, state school psychology associations and NASP. Ms. Apgar is a graduate of Cornell University and Tufts University.
